Looking for a truly different, authentic eating experience? Scared of being ripped off at a variety of dreary tourist eateries?
It is, of course, only natural that those who do not know the city or master the language find it difficult to discover those hidden culinary treasures. Fear not: we have done all the fieldwork for you, leaving you to enjoy the best that Catalan food has to offer, both traditional and cutting-edge. The tour kicks off with breakfast at Barcelona's oldest granja (traditional milk bar), where you can enjoy freshly homemade dairy products. It also takes in a visit to La Boquería, the city's leading and most colourful food market, where ingredients and recipes are explained and there is a chance to taste some of the produce on display.
Another stop involves a tasting of some artisanal cheeses at a unique establishment: we also peek into other establishments, such as impressive delicatessens, traditional bakeries, etc. We will also drop into a local bar for a glass of something fortifying if necessary (or even mildly advisable).
All this is capped off with a hearty meal at Angel's where, surrounded by an eclectic mix of antiques and junk, you will be fed and entertained by the eccentric host.
All with detailed explanations (including a little recipe book), historical notes and juicy anecdotes so you can leave knowing more than most locals.
